The turn of the season is upon us, and the autumn equinox is near.
We get a chance to bring in and take in what we have spent the summer cultivating and growing within our gardens of creativity.
Autumn is an awe-worthy season that gathers; it is when we reap the harvest of the seeds we have sown in previous seasons. We bring in, take in, put away, and count our increase.
And, when this happens, we gather to celebrate what we have accomplished in the grueling months of growth, making sure our abundance is well tended to. Our children have thrived, our meals have nourished us, our art has blossomed and bloomed.
Now is the time for getting ready for what is next. For, soon, falling into the fallow season.
Autumn allows us to reflect on abundance and freely move forward into the fallow season—a season of rest.
If you live in a place with four seasons, you know that when fall comes, it plays with summer a little bit longer. There are warmer days and cooler nights before the true chill of the autumn season fully settles in.
This happens with us, too. We linger, elated with our harvest and hard work, so much so it inspires us to do more. And, indeed, we do still have more to give. That is, until the chill of the autumn season fully settles in. Inviting us to rest a while.
How will you open your eyes to be in awe of autumn?

Hang out with Rachel Marie Kang in New England.
Hey there, Rachel here.
This fall, I’ll be hanging out in the North Shore of Boston from October 14-15 with my friend Melissa Zaldivar for Cheer Her On Weekend — and you’re invited. If you’re looking for a fun fall weekend with friends, or a solo getaway to take in the season . . . look no further.
We’ll be taking guided walks through historic farmland, coastline, and exploring the quaint small towns of Boston’s North Shore. It’ll be two days of good meals, breathtaking scenery, intimate conversations, and a live podcast recording (featuring me).
We’ll also take a tour of Louisa May Alcott’s Orchard House (the home of Little Women). Um, dream come true much?!
It’ll be the most quintessential New England getaway, and I hope you’ll join. If you have questions, simply reply to this email. If you’re interested or curious, tap the link below.
See you there?!

In awe of love with Katherine Nadene.
We’re in awe of Katherine Nadene, friend of The Fallow House, and her newly published poems. Written over the course of her relationship with her husband, Andrew, the culmination of Katherine’s words of love and adoration became her debut poetry collection, To the Moon & the World’s Goodbye.
Katherine gives us a glimpse into her journey of finding, planting, and growing the love specifically for her. Today, we’re sharing her poem “Entrance” from To the Moon & the World’s Goodbye.
Open the door & stay awhile
relieve our souls with a laugh
so what if the giggles bubbling
from the tips of our toes makes us ache?
there.
not scared
sunshine pouring from your lips.
You know how to make an entrance
“The collection displays how relationships and feelings can change in an instant and shows how love can grow stronger despite hardships, hospital adventures, and others’ doubts and betrayals,” says Katherine.

Listen into the afternoon.
Rachel Marie Kang, founder of The Fallow House, joined visual artist Corey Frey of The Well Collaborative for an artist’s roundtable with Stephen Roach on the Makers and Mystics podcast.
Together, they discuss art, identity, and how the two intersect—how the creative process shapes the creative’s sense of self.
“You are a writer because you write . . . you’re a painter because you show up to the canvas and put color on the canvas . . . you’re a musician because you’re making chords on a guitar.”
—Stephen Roach
Struggling to know how to show up in the world as a creative? Listen to this roundtable discussion and be reminded of “how the identity of art will bear a reflection of us, but always lead us beyond ourselves.”
Have missed you Rachel. New England sounds amazing and Louisa May Alcott is a dream. Have a blessed time.
